You’re A Star.
Do you remember looking up into the sky,
and thinking that whatever you saw was the universe?
Do you remember picking which star was yours?
The one that YOU wanted out of all the other ones?
You know, the one that smiled at you with a twinkle.
Remember the one that would be one star you’d look up to,
and spill your heart out to?
Remember that while everyone wanted the man on the moon,
you wanted YOUR star.
Do you remember knowing which star was yours?
The one that laughed at all your jokes,
and made it okay to make mistakes because you knew..
it would always be there, regardless.
Do you remember how it never let you down?
Then one night,
you’re not the only one looking at that star.
It’s okay though, because it’s still your star.
But then, slowly, your star starts to fade.
It didn’t shine the way it used to.
Other stars shined brighter, but you wanted that one fading star.
The one that you shared memories with.
The one that you had to share with someone else.
The one that was supposed to be there, regardless.
The one that was getting harder to see.
The one that wasn’t there anymore.
The one that you never made one wish on.
The one that you wish would just come back.
Do you remember looking at your world,
and thinking that your world was the universe?
Do you remember picking the one star that was yours?
The one YOU waned out of all the other ones?
You know, the one that smiled at you with a twinkle.
Remember the one that would be ONE star you’d look to,
and spill your heart to?
Remember while everyone wanted that other guy,
you were only looking at yours..
cause you wanted YOUR star.
I wrote this when I was madly infatuated with my ex back in Jan 2008. I can’t believe the creativity that was flowing through my mind. I’m confident in posting this up because these are things I used to keep close to my heart, but now that it’s said & done with, I’m happy to look at these with literary honesty & be proud.
